The problem is that this is not a technology issue. The technologies that make smart phones and social networks dangers are scarcely technological, or at least are outrageously, childishly simple "technologies". This is only about business and capitalism. The way technology harnesses addiction to generate market value is the underlying problem here, and it has very little to do with any kind of advanced technology. This is what needs to be regulated and ultimately made illegal. It's entirely possible to do, but there is no will whatsoever to do it. If we were honest about it we'd recognize that at the root of every serious problem faced by humanity today is the same drive to get as much as possible with no real effort. So the problem we see isn't the problem, it's underneath it, driving the problem and assiduously avoiding any solution. It's fucking absurd.
