I run an Ubuntu machine for ML stuff and I have to say that I avoid the desktop like the plague; only use it via ssh. I really don't see any future where the Linux Desktop is really "a thing"... but maybe Ubuntu was putting my money on the wring fighter?

To be clear, I don't really care since all my other work is on Mac anyway.
